Oklahoma Mastocytosis Society - Our Stories

Our son Brendan has UP, a solitary Mastocytoma, and possible SM.  He was diagnosed at 7 months old

We've been pretty lucky in a lot of ways.  He has never blistered.  He doesn't seem to have sensitivity to most common detergents, soaps, etc. He does have reactions to other things, like certain colognes, foods, stimulation, and so forth.  He has had a lot of gastrointestinal problems.   He's in pain quite often, and has diarrhea most of the time-but has been doing much better since starting Gastrocrom.

He takes Atarax and Benadryl only as needed and has Ana-Guard for shock.  He has only shocked once so far.

He's a beautiful little boy, and we're lucky to have him.  He always tries to be cheerful and smiley, even when he doesn't feel good.  We are optimistic that he will outgrow this disease.  Brendan is now 14 months old.
